Temari Pattern AW09 / TemariKai Simple Division Patterns

Accomplished intermediate design. One of 8 JTA Shihan  exam designs. Personal composition, contributed by Anne W.
Materials:  31 cm circumference mari, wrapped in red

Pearl cotton #5 in black, white and 3 shades of gray

Marking thread to match mari wrap

Prepare a Simple 10 Division with invisible thread

Add extra marking lines: using same thread as original marking. Add 5 lines both north and south of equator, at 1 cm intervals, shown in red on diagram.

Place marking pins on every other line of S10 marking, 1/2 way between last support line and N & S Poles (black dots on diagram). Follow stitching path shown in green: Start at pt 1 with black, using uwagake chidori kagari. Even-numbered stitches (excluding numbers 1 & 13) are lower points of chidori zig-zag; Points 1 and 13 are start and end. Repeat one row on each set of marking lines, kousa style, with 1 more row of black, 2 rows of each shade of gray (dark to light) and finally white.
