All stitching is done with double thread.

Pentagons:  Locate one of the 12 pentagons.  Per diagram to the left, with green thread, stitch a pentagon inside each pentagon, stitching as close to the marking lines as possible.  Repeat on the remaining 11 pentagons.

Stars: Round 1:  Number each pentagon in order to maintain kousa syle.  In pentagon 1, place pins at points 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10, halfway between x and a in diagram 1.  Using dark orange, stitch around the pentagon using Chidori Kagari. Starting at 1, just inside a neighboring pentagon, stitch to the pin at 2, and back across the green to the next pentagon at 3.  Continue around pentagon 1.  Repeat on pentagons 2-12.

Round 2:  Start again with pentagon 1.  Using orange, stitch around each pentagon using Chidori Kagari.  Referring to diagram 1, start at A, just below the original starting point and stitch to a point 2/3 of the distance from a - 2.  Continue around pentagon 1 and repeat on pentagons 2-12.

Diamonds: Final round:  Locate an orange diamond.  Referring to diagram 2, use green to stitch from 1-2-3-4-1, weaving under the dark orange threads and over the orange threads.  Repeat on all orange diamonds.

Embellishments:  With metallic gold thread, stitch matsuba kagarai at each pentagon center.
