Temari  Books Information - English
see also  Japanese book information

March 2008 - Temari Gifts - Japanese Thread Balls and JewelryDiana Vandervoort's long awaited 5th book is now available and shipping directly from the author's website. You'll find Diana returning to the more traditional roots of temari methods and techniques, with both basic information as well as pattern interpretations for more experienced stitchers. There are a few additional, enjoyable projects utilizing temari techniques.  I had the great pleasure of being asked by Diana to act as her technical editor for this book and we had a great experience working together as friends and colleagues, sharing the joy of our craft. (Please note that I have no financial or other interest in Diana's ventures or am receiving any compensation on this, or any other, of her sales. I will simply and wholly say that I believe that both beginner and experienced temari crafters will value having this volume in their libraries).

A wonderful book is authored by an English author, Mary Wood: The Craft of Temari, published by Search Press ( this is my personal favorite for inspiration of the English books - ). Four books have been written by Diana Vandervoort: Temari, Temari Traditions, Temari Treasures, and Temari Adventures. All are published by Japan Publications. Temari - A Traditional Japanese Embroidery Technique by Margaret Ludlow, published by Guild of Master Craftsman Publications is good for beginners. Another book is by Anna Diamond, Temari Book.  All books are obtainable through major book retailers such as Barnes and Noble.com , Amazon.com and some needlework shops - they may be available at your local library. For a professional librarian's reviews of the English book click here.

Temari is making it into needlework magazines too. There have been several beautiful how-to articles written by Janet Donelly of Australia. Embroidery & Cross Stitch Magazine (Vol. 4, No 4) has a great beginner's article including instructions for 3 designs called "Golden Temari".  Other articles are featured in the Inspirations Magazine - No. 20 (Chrysanthemum Ball) and No. 25 (Wild Swan Egg).
