TemariKai Mentor/Teacher Resource

        TemariKai and Talk Temari have been chugging along for a number of years and we have a growing community of experienced stitchers that have added mentoring and teaching to their temari enjoyment.  We've maintained a database of potential contacts for much of the life of TK; this revised format will hopefully make it easier to find and connect with learners and mentors/teachers.

        Here's how it works: People listed in the resource need to indicate their experience in making temari as well as in teaching temari. It's asked that you have been making temari for a minimum of 2 years before being asked to be included on the Resource, since it does take some practice and experience (in both stitching and teaching) before going forth to guide our fellow stitchers. Inclusion in this resource listing does not imply Japan Temari Association certification; those that have earned JTA credentials at a teaching level (Shihan/L3 or Kyoujyu/L4 - the required levels to teach temari in Japan) have the option of including their level/year obtained in their listing.

        *) Mentors are willing to help for a period of time without charge (like perhaps getting over a sticky spot; please don't abuse a mentor, it's not meant to be a "permanent" or long term tutorage).
        *) Teachers
offer private and/or group lessons or workshops for a fee.
        *) Online
means someone is available online;
        *) Local means "real hands on" in their area;

        *) Listings are alphabetical by location: US/State, then worldwide. Contact the listed mentor or teacher directly by clicking their email entry in the table; it will open a new note in your email client. If for some reason that does not work (occasionally a browser will not play nice), change the "-a-t-" in the email address to the @ symbol and send them an email, being sure to include "TemariKai Teacher Inquiry" (people listing here have been advised to look for that as the subject line so they know why you are writing to them).

        To be added to this Resource list, send an email with your name, email address, location, when you began making temari, when you began teaching temari,  and whether you want to mentor and/or teach, online and/or locally to gthompson@temarikai.com with the subject line "TK TeacherMentor Resource".  We rely on the honor system for people indicating their experience for both stitching and teaching; this list cannot guarantee or vet any credentials. Practice standard internet safety when communicating and connecting with people; using this resource is at your own risk. TemariKai provides this as a good-will service to the online temari community; there is no charge to be listed as a resource or to contact a teacher/mentor.
