Stars

The star stitch is worked similarly to the chrysanthemum stitch.  Rotate the ball so each stitch is made with the point located toward the top of the ball. 

Round 1 – With YLI Candlelight Rainbow, begin at 1 (Figure 7), bringing needle up just to the left of the guideline.  Turn ball so position 2 is above all other points.  Make a herringbone stitch, entering at 2 and exiting at 3.  Continue rotating ball and making stitches at the rest of the points to form a star.  The last stitch is made at 10.






Rounds 2, 3, 4, 5 – With DMC Blanc, work round 2 , following next set of numbers.  The last stitch is made entering the needle at 20 and exiting at 21  just below and slightly to the left of stitch 11.  This begins the next round.  Continue the star pattern until 5 rounds have been worked, and the stars will be solid.

Work star in each pentagon opening and the temari is complete.
