Arrow Heads

Joan posted a photo of this pattern in her webshots album and it was requested by the TT list.  It is worked on a C8; Joan used a 2 1/2 inch ball but this pattern could be worked on a 2 or 3 inch ball. The example is worked in Pearl Cotton 5.

.

Prep and and tack a C8. Hold ball so the north pole is on the top. Locate the 4 triangles with a diamond shape around the obi, outlined in black ( as in photo 1 below).Place pins 1 1/2 cm (2 to 2 1/2 cm for a 3 in ball) inside the arrow head shape as shown in red in photo1. Stitch all 4 arrow head shapes for the north pole. Turn the ball so the south pole becomes the north pole. Locate the triangles with a pole around the obi. Mark with pins the same distance in from the edge to make the arrow head shape. See photo 2 below. Stitch the 4 arrow head shapes weaving in and out as you go. See photo 3 below.  Decorate the centers as you please. The ball is finished.
