Katrina's Ojo de Dios

The October GITS round of TalkTemari was a color challenge based on colors chosen by the daugther of a list member for her temporary bedroom (they had to evacuate the storm but thankfully their home and possessions are intact and they will go home after repairs). The challenge inspired many great outcomes as well as patterns, this being one that Glenna shares. It's her interpretation of a temari in Fun with Temari, page 9 #6.

Each round is stitched following the sequence shown in the diagram at left. Start at Point 1, following the point sequence back to Point 16, back to Point 1 to close the round. The design builds out from the center, and will interweave as you work consecutive rounds.

The color sequence used in this example is: 2 Burgundy, 1 Gold, 2 Yellow, 1 Gold, 2 Royal, 1 Gold, 2 Hot Pink, 1 Gold, 2 Ivory, 1 Gold, 2 Orange, 1 Gold, 2 Hunter Green.

The original pattern also shows a zigzag herringbone band between Ojo’s (pole patterns). You may finish it off with this same idea or embellish the ball with your own ideas.
