Daffodil

Anne made this temari as a gift temari when she hosted a local gathering of TalkTemari friends; it's been requested by TT members after seeing the photos.

Materials: 3” Mari with pastel or light colored thread wrap marked as a  C10; 5 shades of yellow and 4 shades of green pearl cotton or equivalent thread.

1. Mark half way point on lines going to the corners of the pentagon. Mark center of each side line of pentagon just to the outside of the line.

2. Stitch a kiku using these pins, 3   rows of each shade, light to dark.

3. Stitch around center point of pentagon using all ten spokes, light to dark yellow.  Four rows of each of the first three shades should reach the points of the kiku.

4. Stitch 3 rows each of the last two shades.  The “ruffle” is achieved by stitching on top of  the kiku.  The last row of the darkest shade should meet the first row of the lightest shade   on the low points of the kiku so no sky blue is showing.  You can always add or subtract    rows as needed

5. Stitch a second daffodil using the pentagon directly opposite the first. Stitch spindles for “leaves”, 2 rows of each shade of green, darkest to lightest

You may add French Knots or a bead or crystal to the center to accent the center of the flower if desired....
