NOT Nina’s Ball

Prepare a mari for an 8 combination design –

This example uses used gold metallic for the marking lines,

and white, red and black pearl cotton for the for the design.

1.  Stitch white triangles in each marked triangle, working to the halfway point between the pole and the centre of the triangle.  Make sure that all triangles are the same size.  2. Using the red thread, stitch around the ball A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I-J-K-L-A.  3.  Next, locate point a, and still using the red thread, stitch around the ball following the same route as previously.  Repeat from points (a) and (A).  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3, six times more, working 2 rows white, 1 black, 2 white and the final in red.   5.  Where the threads cross in between the triangles, stitch 4 times around the threads using red thread.
