The pattern for this egg is directly adapted from Temari, by Diana
VanderVoort, the Merry Go Round pattern. Mark a wrapped egg into eighths
with an obi. Place pins halfway between poles and obi. Keep the top of
the egg pointing up, and work herringbone in a long zigzag from the upper
pin down to a lower pin. The threads will cross in between the mark lines
at the obi, and you will need to place two pins on close together on either
side of each mark line, at the obi. These pins will hold the threads crossing
in place. Work six to eight rounds - choose colors of your choice.
Either tack the crossings or work an obi with back stitches on the crossings. Work embellishments on the poles and other white space if desired and the egg is complete. |
