Temari Egg 04
Beginner
This egg is an easy variation of the chrysanthemum pattern, worked from pole to pole rather than pole to obi. Divide a wrapped egg into vertical eighths. Determine a small distance from each pole, equal on both ends. Work chrysanthemum, going from one pole down to the other (do not upend the egg, always hold it with the top pointing up). As you work successive rounds, you will be crossing threads at the obi - place a pair of pins close together on either side of the mark thread at the obi to hold these crossed threads in a smoothly gathered mode. Work colors and as many rounds as you desire.
To finish the egg, either tack the crossed threads at each obi point, or you can work an obi itself around the egg, overstitching at the crossed threads to secure them. Add any other embellishments you desire such as straight stitch starbursts on the poles.
