Take the thread from your starting pin (pink) to any other pin of a different pair (here yellow), to the mate of the pin you started at (the other pink)

then to the mate of the pin you went to (yellow), then back "home" to the pin you began at.

Now go from that home pin to one of another pair  - here to green.

then to the mate of the starting pin - pink, to the mate of the chosen pair - green, and home to pink

Continue this process to the other two pairs of pins, then end off and tack the center of each spoke center that you have created. Each center (pink pin spot) now has ten lines radiating out, and you have begun to create the sides of the north and south pole pentagons. Remove the pair of pins that were the starting point (pink).

Measure off three wraps of thread, choose another pin to being at, and repeat the process until you have covered the three remaining pin pairs and have ten lines radiating out from the starting pin. (Here I started on yellow, and for the first of three rounds went to the green pair).
